Dear AU Community,
With many of our students now on campus, Welcome Week is in full swing. Thank you to our incredible move-in volunteers. You welcomed our students and families with the positive spirit that is such an important part of the American University community.
As we continue activities this week, we remain committed to reaching a fair and equitable agreement. We have asked the union for dates to continue negotiations based on our comprehensive and generous offer to the staff unit members and to continue the dialogue on the adjunct faculty contract, and we are now in the process of scheduling. Our offer on the table features wage increases that total 10.5 percent in across-the-board and performance-based increases over the next three years. This is on top of additional increases unit members would receive through other compensation measures in our offer that combine to average 4.6 percent increases for the staff union members in the first year.
We will continue to move forward in a constructive and equitable way that supports our entire community. Our approach and commitment to equity is focused on the interests of all our people and will support the overall health of the institution.
