Bio
Brandon P. Ruben is an Assistant Public Defender in Prince George’s County, Maryland, where he is a felony jury trial attorney.  Previously, he was a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit as well as on two U.S. District Courts.

Mr. Ruben’s writings on the criminal legal system, work to imagine evolved, effective and humane societal responses to instances of harm. His work has been published by the Brookings Institution, the Brooklyn Law Review, Law 360, the Fordham Law Review, and the Washington Post.

An active community member, Mr. Ruben has also served as campaign treasurer for a candidate for Prince George’s County Council.

Mr. Ruben received a J.D. magna cum laude from the Fordham University School of Law. He also holds an M.A. in Comparative Literature from Columbia University, and a B.A. in English from McGill University.
