Adeen Postar

Adeen Postar joined the Washington College of Law as Library Director and Professor of Practice at the Pence Law Library in August 2019 after serving as the Law Library Director at the University of Baltimore School of Law between 2014 and 2019 and as Deputy Director at the Pence Law Library between 2004 and 2014. She has extensive experience in law firm, academic and government libraries. She is an active member of the American Association of Law Libraries, the Society of Academic Law Library Directors, and the Law Librarians' Society of the District of Columbia serving in various leadership positions. Her current work includes the administration of the Law Library and teaching Advanced Legal Research. Ms. Postar is also an editor of the Journal of Legal Education.

John Heywood

Foreign & International Law Librarian

John Heywood is a foreign and international law librarian at the Washington College of Law. A 1985 graduate of WCL, he is one of the founding senior editors of the American University International Law Review. He is also a past Chair of the AU Faculty Senate and a former faculty trustee on the AU Board of Trustees. He has taught International Law, Advanced Foreign and International Legal Research, the Seminar on International Courts, and in the very dim past, Legal Rhetoric, U.S. Foreign Policy, and Introduction to Statistics.

Ripple Weistling

Ripple Weistling joined the library faculty in May 2007. She is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars and practiced law in Washington, DC prior to receiving her M.L.S. from the Catholic University of America. Ms. Weistling is the editor of the Washington College of Law SSRN Legal Research Paper Series.

Shannon Roddy

Shannon Roddy is a 2006 graduate of WCL. She joined the Pence Law Library in December 2011 as an evening circulation manager, became Special Projects Librarian in February 2013, and became Student Services Librarian in October 2014. She teaches family law and advanced legal research. Prior to transitioning to law librarianship, she clerked in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and practiced family law at a boutique firm in Washington, DC.

Khelani Clay

Access Services Librarian

Khelani Clay is a 2009 graduate of WCL and has worked in the law library in various positions since 2006, now as the Access Services Librarian. As the Access Services librarian, Khelani Clay is one of the reference librarians and supervises circulation and interlibrary loan services, provides reference services to library patrons, is the liaison to American University Law Review, administers the Digital Commons institutional repository, develops research guides, and helps with collection development. Professor Clay also teaches advanced legal research and advanced legal methods and is also an adjunct professor in the AU School of Public Affairs Justice, Law and Criminology program.

Access Services

Jason Miller

Circulation Manager

Jason Miller is a 2019 graduate of WCL. He joined the Pence Law Library in 2016 as a Circulation Desk Operator and now serves as a Circulation Manager. Jason provides circulation services, interlibrary loan services, resource sharing services, and customer service to patrons. He also supervises the daily circulation operations, serves as a copyright officer for the library, and is responsible for stack maintenance. Prior to working at the Pence Law Library, he practiced law a small firm in Washington, DC.  

Rachel Silverboard

Rachel Silverboard joined the Pence Law Library as a Circulation Manager in June 2023. Rachel is currently studying for her Master’s degree at American University School of International Service while serving as a manager in the Access Services department.

Rachel provides circulation services, resource sharing and interlibrary loan services, and customer service alongside the Circulation Desk staff she supervises. Rachel assists in maintaining library webpages and creating content for the Library’s social media pages and displays.  

Acquisitions

John Smith

Director of Collection Operations

Before becoming Director of Collection Operations, Mr. Smith served as Acquisitions/Serials Librarian, Access Services Librarian, and Technical Systems Coordinator. Prior to joining the Pence Law Library in 2002, John worked in various positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Library, the University of Connecticut Law Library, Hartford Public Library, and the Clayton College and State University Library.

Cindy Robertson

Searching & Ordering Coordinator

Ms. Robertson orders new materials for the law library, including print and electronic resources. She is also the law library’s notary public and reviews I-9 verification for the WCL community.

Geneva Walker

Senior Serials Specialist

Ms. Walker receives and processes all serials and government documents that are delivered to the library. She identifies and claims all serials not received by the expected date by contacting various vendors. Maintains all check-in records for public display. Responsible for routing serials to/from faculty and staff. Coordinates the filing in professors’ offices and the Clinic.

Collection & Bibliographic Services

Linda Wen

Head of Collections and Bibliographic Services

Ms. Wen joined the library as Head of Collections and Bibliographic Services in August 2014. She previously worked as Head of Information Technology at the Ottenheimer Library at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She supervises the Collections and Bibliographic Services Department and is responsible for administering and managing the Library’s integrated library system and all discovery interfaces. 

Luis Batres

Technical Systems Coordinator

Mr. Batres has worked at AU for over twenty-five years. He collects statistics on various aspects of the library collections and services and assists in managing e-resources and the administration of library systems and discovery interfaces. He also manage serials and government documents in various aspects.
