AUWCL is proud to share that Professor Cynthia Jones has received the prestigious Raeder-Taslitz Award from the . This award is in recognition of Professor Jones’ significant contribution to promoting public understanding of criminal justice, justice and fairness in the criminal justice system.



Professor Jones said of the award, "I am incredibly proud to be the 2022 recipient of the Raeder-Taslitz award  from the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section.  This award celebrates my professional passions: educating students in the study of criminal law and procedure; using legal scholarship to impact change in the criminal legal system; and working with organizations like The Sentencing Project to achieve systemic criminal and racial justice reform.

Professor N. Jeremi Duru, Sports Law Expert, Comments on Landmark NFL Discrimination Lawsuit

On February 1, 2022, former NFL coach Brian Flores filed a lawsuit against the NFL, citing alleged discrimination and racism in hiring practices. Since the lawsuit, WCL Professor has been interviewed by multiple media outlets on the lawsuit and this historic moment in sports law. Professor Duru is among the nation's most prominent sports law authorities and author of . In addition to his scholarship, he has represented the Fritz Pollard Alliance of minority coaches, scouts, and front office personnel in the National Football League as well as sports industry professionals in employment matters involving other leagues, including the National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball.
