AU + Workday

Workday is American University's Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) and future Student Information System (SIS)

Workday is American University’s single platform used for your HR, Finance, Payroll, Learning, and Performance Management needs. Workday provides a user-friendly and modern experience, which enables access to the data that you need all in one comprehensive enterprise system.

Workday Student

We officially kicked off the implementation project for Workday Student, our new Student Information System (SIS), in partnership with Workday Professional Services. As a multi-year initiative, the project is expected to be complete by 2027. This cutting-edge system will replace Eagle Service, Colleague, and CRM Advise, driving innovation and elevating student success across the university!

This integration will offer powerful new capabilities, such as:

  • Engaging students throughout their academic journey with convenient mobile access
  • Simplified course planning and academic progress tracking for students
  • User-friendly, self-service features for students, faculty, and staff
  • Easy access to reports and dashboards for better decision-making
  • A seamless experience from academic planning to course registration

Vision Statement

American University’s Workday ERP System implementation will enhance efficiency and the user experience for faculty, staff, and students using AU’s information technology systems. The Workday implementation will create a strong foundation of standardized, integrated, and effective HR and financial systems and processes that provide accurate, timely, and relevant information.

Guiding Principles

Simplify and Standardize Processes

Simplify and standardize processes by using delivered functionality whenever possible to provide user friendly tools that will enable transparency and accuracy and support compliance requirements.

Design Beyond Implementation

Enable an enduring and scalable ERP system that considers current and future cross-functional needs across American University.

Avoid Replicating Legacy Processes

Embrace change and design forward looking processes that incorporate established best practices to deliver a system that provides users with the ability to access the right information at the right time.

Respect One Another and Foster an Environment of Collaboration and Transparency

Break down siloes and empower the project team to work together to make thoughtful, deliberate, and timely decisions that will be proactively communicated to prepare the campus community for future changes.

The AU +Workday Change Network is a group comprised of over 90 staff members. The Change Network influences the success of the AU + Workday implementation by:

  • Supporting and socializing the change within their unit.
  • Delivering targeted peer-to-peer communications and project updates.
  • Driving awareness, engagement, and user adoption.
  • Supporting peers and colleagues through the change and post-go-live.
