Cathy Schenker is the Assistant Dean Online Learning and a professorial lecturer at the American University Washington College of Law. Cathy currently oversees the Master of Legal Studies (MLS), an online degree program being offered jointly by AUWCL and the Kogod School of Business.  Cathy teaches Negotiation & Communication in the program and oversees the Immersions and Topics in Law courses.  Prior to July 2018, Cathy was the Director of Graduate Studies at AUWCL.  In this role, she taught Legal Research & Writing to the international LL.M. students and was their academic and student affairs advisor. In addition, she directed the Legal Languages Program.  In this role, she directed and taught in AUWCL’s English for Lawyers Program, which she created in 2007, and oversaw AUWCL’s Spanish for Lawyers courses. Cathy is interested in issues related to English for Specific Purposes and content-based language education as well as academic support programs. Prior to teaching at AUWCL, Cathy worked as a corporate associate at Hogan & Hartson LLP (currently Hogan Lovells). She received her BA, cum laude, from Yale University in History and International Studies, a JD from New York University School of Law, and a TESOL certificate from American University.

Kimberly King is the Assistant Director of the Office of Online Learning at the American University Washington College of Law.

Kimberly has a Bachelor’s in Communication and a Master’s in Social Work from Howard University. Prior to working at American University, Kimberly served as the Program Manager for Howard University’s distance education initiative, where she primarily worked on licensure and compliance. There, she successfully acquired individual state and SARA licensure and Middle States accreditation. She also led the College of Engineering & Architecture through two cycles of US News & World Report evaluations, where on both occasions, the college improved its overall ranking.

Kimberly transitioned to the American University Washington College of Law Office of Online Learning in 2018—where she assisted with the launch of the Master of Legal Studies program, which welcomed its first cohort in April 2019. Kimberly has a total of 8+ years of experience in higher education, primarily working in the online sphere.

Kimberly is skilled in data retrieval & analysis, student advising & counseling, program development, coordination and management. Kimberly empowers future leaders through flexible, quality education via the diverse and transformative online platform.
